Today we are looking at the Tin Hifi T3 Plus. It is a single DD model unlike the original T3 but it definitely sounds a whole lot better. It is currently priced at $79USD on Linsoul which is $10 more than the original T3.
The T3 Plus utilises a LCP Dynamic driver which is the same material as the Driver the Aria from Moondrop is using.
Packaging:
The Box is really different compared to their previous T3 and I like it.
Under that box labeled, Tin Hifi, there are all the accessories.
As much as I like the box, not sure why they decided to make people struggle. The T3 Plus were fit in a way that was really hard to remove.
Tin Hifi seemed to be really proud of this cable. They said it's the same cable that came with the T5 but I don't like it. They are clearly capable of doing better. In fact the original T3 cables was better. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This looks like it would snap after a few months so being me, I decided to swap out the cable after the review period.
They were pretty generous with the tips as usual.
They included a pretty nice pouch as well. But it was a little small and the material was rough so I refrained from using it for the fear that it would damage the beautiful shells of the T3 Plus.
Build:
The build this time was just fantastic for the T3 Plus. I really like resin shells especially those semi custom ones. While this is not the most semi custom, it is made of resin which is my favourite so it didn't have any sharp edges and it fit really well. More comfortable than the Aria as well.
Sound:
My first impressions of this set was that it is really balanced sounding. All aspects of the T3 Plus are well executed.
Bass:
The bass really caught me by surprised. It went really deep and was really clean. It has the right amount of speed and never came across as slow. It never once came across as boomy but was detailed and well textured and controlled. I do agree that some might find it too bass light but for the most part, the bass here is just really well done. There's not much to fault in terms of the bass on the T3 Plus. It also does not bleed into the mids.
Mids:
The midrange on the T3 Plus was perfect for me. I think it more or less fits my tastes perfectly. It was really natural and very even. Instruments sounded natural and detailed. The mids has a nice amount of thickness and was never thin. It also exhibited no harshness and is very easy and relaxing to listen to. It has a very natural timbre. If only it was smaller, this would have been my bedtime IEM.
Treble:
Treble on the T3 Plus is well extended. Cymbals and hi hats sound good on it. It never exhibits any form of sibilance and is not splashy. It is also has got a good amount of detail. For those treble heads out there, yes the T3 Plus treble might be too little. Other than that, it is pretty good.
Technical performance:
The detail and resolution while not the best, is pretty decent. It's at least better than trying to fake things that are not there like the Aria with the boosted upper midrange and making people perceive it as "detail".
Soundstage:
Soundstage on the T3 Plus is really huge surprisingly. Imaging is also really good and you can easily pinpoint where all the instruments are coming from.
Comparisons:
The T3 Plus compared to the Aria has more bass extension and better punch. The midrange is more reserved and not shouty like the Aria. Treble extension is more or less on par. Overall it is warmer compared to the Aria. Another commonly compared IEM is the recently release Meteor. The Meteor has a more Midrange presence compared to the T3 Plus. It is not as punchy as the T3 Plus in terms of bass but sub bass has similar extension. Detail and resolution is more or less identical but I don't mind paying extra since TRI was generous with their accessories while the T3 Plus was a little disappointing.
Conclusion:
The Tin Hifi T3 Plus is another super competitive IEM in the big sea of IEMs. Given that the competition in the current market is getting tougher, the T3 Plus is indeed above average at its asking price. For those seeking a warmer but balanced tuning, if the Aria did not suit you well, you might want to give the T3 Plus a go. You will not be disappointed.
This unit was sent to us by Linsoul for review purposes. Many thanks to them for making this review possible.
