Today, we are looking at the last cable that we have from Ornate Audio. The Cherry Blossom. Kind of late, but here it is.
*DISCLAIMER*
These cables were sent to me by Ornate Audio for a review. My opinion will be unbiased and remain as honest and transparent as possible. I will not make bold claims that these cables will have significant changes in the sound quality or improve your IEM. It varies from IEM to IEM so please do not assume that whatever is written here will be reflected in your personal usage. At the end of the day, sound is a very subjective topic. Some may not be able to notice certain things that are different while some can. With that, I will continue with the review.
Build Quality:
Identical to the Lilac, they Cherry Blossom takes on the very unique braiding style that the Lilac has. Cables are still rather stiff but they make me feel assured without having to worry about breaking the cable anytime soon.
They have decided to go with Rhodium plated connectors. It looks good and sounds good so that's fine. They are also filled with resin like their other cables connectors but I would have like it if they put some heat shrink to cover the connectors. That's usually how I built my cables to increase durability.
Packaging:
Packaging is similar to their other models so I won't repeat it again. It's just a black box with a lid and lots of foam padding to keep the cables safe during shipping
Sound:
The Cherry Blossom is built with 8 cores of 24AWG High Purity Copper wires. According to the diagram on Ornate Audio's website, the Cherry Blossom excels in terms of soundstage and exceptionally excels in midrange frequencies.
Ok lets talk about soundstage first. If I could describe it in one word, that would be crazy. Why? It has the potential to achieve headphone quality soundstage. It is able to increase soundstage tremendously in terms of width and creates a lot more headroom. This helps to reduce congestion. Instrument placement is also more accurate and precise when the Cherry Blossom is in use.
The Cherry Blossom is also able to increase clarity and gives more detail and texture. Even though the Bass and treble is not the specialty of the Cherry Blossom, it tames any harshness in the treble retaining detail and giving it texture and keeps the bass within control to prevent it from going to overboard and affecting the other frequencies.
Now the mids. The Cherry Blossom was able to make remember why I fell in love with midrange frequencies and why it is my favorite out of bass, mids and treble. In songs, I think the midrange would handle vocals majority of time the time. Vocals are really important as I feel it helps to portray the emotions in the song and bring out the vibes in the song whether it is a sad one, or a happy one. The Cherry Blossom helps to push vocals forward and I like that. It also gives great detail and clarity. The midrange is also much more smooth sounding.
It helps to make your IEM more relaxed sounding as well. One IEM that went well with the Cherry Blossom was the Moondrop Blessing 2. I used an adapter because this was terminated in MMCX but the Blessing 2 is in 2 pin. I think most of your would agree that the blessing 2 can get a little harsh at times but the Cherry Blossom is able to get rid of all of that.
It makes your midrange sound more smooth and tamed creating a sound that is more relaxing and soothing to the ears.
Conclusion:
To sum everything up, the Cherry Blossom is a great cable. I think the Cherry Blossom is really one of the better cables that I have come across. Nothing in this price range appeals to me better than the Cherry Blossom.
Once again, thanks for sending us the cables Ornate Audio.
